Brave New World

This novel really helps put together the common theme of all the other books we have read for the class. Every author paints a picture about what the future could be like, and a clash of good and bad beliefs/morals. With Brave new world they turn humans into a mass production. Individualism is erased from people. Like in A clockwork orange it comes into to the question of choice and free will. Is it better that they don't know how to be an individual and are predestined into society? or should they have the choice to be whatever they want in the world? I think its a bad situation because people cant further themselves. Once a gamma always a gamma. They are stuck in that class and trained to discriminate against the other classes. Over all though i like the book, i think its a bit confusing at times but when you clear it up it raises good questions.

  1. I like the book so far as well. I do not believe with the idea of mass producing people who have no family or home and conditioning them to live a certain lifestyle. I believe in a society like this it would be easier for people to maintain order but for the sake of the individuals it is not fair that they do not have the option to better themselves.

  2. I think you hit the nail right on the head, so to speak. This book takes away rights that were given to all people. These rights were established because they meant something and that people should be allowed to have the right to choose and be who they want. I just really hope that this, the real world never comes to this, or any of the worlds created in the books we have read.

I completely agree with this statement. Individuality is completely sucked from person to person. People are being "born" into classes and are straying from the natural world and way of "being who you are." However i do not think that something like this will happen anytime soon. We as people are reproducing at a fast rate and it would not make sense for people to be "farmed". People should have the choice to be who they choose to be.

  4. I definitely agree with you on that one man. This is one weird place to call home if you are a character in a Brave New World. Like I said, I'm not so sure that we should call it a Brave New World, more like a Weird Shitty World. How about that, yea that suits just fine.
